Winning the First Prize of 2018 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award

On the morning of May 15th, the 2018 Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Ceremony was held at the Friendship Hall of the Shanghai Exhibition Center. It was a grand event to honor the scientific and technological workers who have made outstanding contributions to the innovation of science and technology in Shanghai, as well as to the economic and social development.

The project “Key Technological Innovation and Promotional Application of Precise Resection and Personalized Functional Reconstruction of Pelvic Tumors Based on the Integration of Medical Engineering and 3D Printing Technology” by THYTEC SHANGHAI CO.,LTD, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kangli Medical, and the Department of Orthopedics of Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital, won the First Prize of the 2018 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award.

THYTEC SHANGHAI CO.,LTD is a specialized medical device company in China that was among the earliest to engage in the research and development, production, and sales of customized artificial bone joints (approved by the National Medical Products Administration). The company has been focusing on the field of artificial bone joints for nearly two decades, accumulating extensive project experience and generating numerous technological achievements. Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital has maintained a close cooperative relationship with the company, regularly inviting academic experts such as Academician Dai Kerong and Professor Hao Yongqiang to provide lectures and guidance at the company.

Significant progress has been made in the design, production, and application of customized bone joints, as well as the transformation and industrialization of personalized pelvic prostheses. By integrating medical engineering and utilizing 3D printing technology, they have pioneered a “three-in-one” treatment model for precise resection and personalized functional reconstruction of pelvic tumors. The company has also independently developed medical imaging software and metal 3D printed personalized pelvic reconstruction prostheses. The research and development projects have achieved breakthroughs in multiple key technological bottlenecks and obtained over twenty national-level patent certificates.
