The customized TMJ-CMF prosthesis cooperation between Suzhou Kangli Orthopaedics Instrument Co., Ltd. and the National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases was marked by a strategic signing ceremony in Zhangjiagang on August 18. The programme brought together hospital, university, municipal and manufacturing representatives for the project signing, a seminar and a visit to Kangli Orthopaedics’ intelligent production workshop.

The project is a strategic cooperation between Suzhou Kangli Orthopaedics Instrument Co., Ltd. and the National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases of the Ninth People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine for a customized temporomandibular joint-cranio-maxillofacial prosthesis. The August 18 programme combined the cooperation signing with a project presentation, a seminar and a workshop visit.

The ceremony was attended by Zhang Zhiyuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases; Guo Lian, Party Secretary of the Ninth People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Dean of the School of Stomatology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Yang Chi, Vice Dean of the School of Stomatology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Executive Deputy Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases; Chang Zheng, Member of the Standing Committee of Zhangjiagang Municipal Party Committee, Executive Deputy Mayor of Zhangjiagang and Party Secretary of the High-tech District; and Chen Yongbing, Chairman of Suzhou Kangli Orthopaedics Instrument Co., Ltd. Leaders from Zhangjiagang and officials from the Municipal Talent Office, Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Municipal Health Commission also participated.

Chang Zheng also addressed the participants. He linked the cooperation with Zhangjiagang’s focus on the biopharmaceutical and medical device industries. He also referred to the city’s business environment, Talent Settlement policy and support fund of billions of yuan for scientists, entrepreneurs and other talent.

Project contract signing and cooperation proceedings

Chairman Chen Yongbing and Professor Yang Chi signed the project contract on site. Academician Zhang Zhiyuan, Secretary Guo Lian, Deputy Mayor Chang Zheng and Deputy Secretary Yan Yaming witnessed the signing.

The wider ceremony included leaders from towns in Zhangjiagang High-tech District and key officials from the municipal Talent Office, Science and Technology Bureau, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Health Commission.

Project seminar and intelligent production workshop visit

The programme continued with a seminar on the customized temporomandibular joint-cranio-maxillofacial prosthesis project.

The final part of the programme was a visit to Kangli Orthopaedics’ intelligent production workshop. Kangli’s manufacturing capabilities include CNC machining with DMG 5-axis centres, Citizen Cincom Swiss-type automatic lathes, a DMG CTX beta 1250 TC turn-mill centre and Haas machining centres. The company also operates an on-site vacuum heat-treatment furnace for stress relief and annealing.
