Overview

Kangli Orthopaedics offers this titanium alloy screw for craniomaxillofacial (CMF) plate fixation. Its self-drilling tip, self-tapping thread and recessed cross drive combine entry, thread formation and driver engagement in one craniofacial fixation screw for use with compatible CMF plates.

Self-Drilling and Self-Tapping Insertion

The tapered cutting tip creates an entry path as the screw advances, while the helical thread forms its mating thread in bone during the same insertion movement. Drilling and tapping are carried out by the screw itself, so a separate pre-drilling step can be removed where that is consistent with the selected surgical technique. The self-drilling and self-tapping form is offered at Φ2.0 mm, alongside the other listed diameters.

Cross Recess Drive and Screw Retention

The central cross-shaped recess accepts the corresponding cross-type driver tip. The fit is close enough that the screw stays on the driver on the way to the plate, so the fastener does not have to be held separately during approach and start of insertion.

Non-self-drilling, non-self-tapping versions behave differently: they are not retained on the driver, and the path is prepared before the screw goes in. Where handling in a confined facial approach matters, the self-drilling, self-tapping, self-holding form is the one that carries itself to the site.

Near-Full-Length Thread Engagement

Threads extend along nearly the full shaft, putting threaded contact across most of the screw length rather than at the tip alone. The craniofacial bone screw is intended for direct fixation through a CMF plate, with the cutting tip and threaded shaft integrated into one component.

Diameter, Length and Material Options

The range is made in titanium alloy and is supplied across several diameters, each in a span of lengths for matching to plate thickness and bone stock at the fixation site.

Fixed and Micro Screw Options

A Fixed Screw option is intended for use after the plate has been positioned. For smaller-format plate systems, the Micro Locking Screw (Anodized) and Micro Screw (Anodized) provide micro-scale fastener options for selection alongside a compatible micro plate. Correction Screw and Self-Tapping Correction Screw types are listed in the same family.

Applications in Facial and Cranial Plate Fixation

Common applications include:

  • Craniofacial fracture plate fixation
  • Facial reconstruction plate fixation
  • Orbital floor plate fixation
  • Micro plate fixation in craniomaxillofacial procedures

Within a CMF construct, this screw serves as the fixation fastener used with a compatible plate, including the Orbital Floor Anatomical Reconstruction Plate as the plate component.
