Kangli Orthopaedics supplies this instrument set for configuring lower-limb external fixation frames. The assembly includes parallel side rods, transverse connecting members, clamp bodies, and blue adjustment knobs arranged around the frame, together with the pins that anchor it to bone. Sterile packaging presents the components as a defined set for lower-limb fixation workflows rather than as individual rods or clamps.
Pin Tips and Tapered Thread Design
The pins carry a sharp triangular tip that starts the pin where it is placed instead of skating across the cortex, and tips are formed at both ends of the pin. The thread beneath is self-drilling and self-tapping, on a tapered profile: the pin cuts its own pilot and its own thread as it advances, so a separate drilling pass is removed from the sequence, and the taper brings more thread into contact with bone the further the pin is driven.
Lower-Limb Frame Components and Layout
Straight side rods extend along opposing sides of the lower-limb model, with the central bone remaining visible between them. This parallel arrangement creates a longitudinal frame path while the primary connecting elements remain positioned across the frame.
Transverse Rods for Frame Configuration
A transverse rod connects the upper section of the assembly, while a lower connecting member joins the lower fixation points on a slight diagonal. Together, these cross-members link the side rods and establish the frame span between the upper and lower connection areas.
Clamp Bodies and Adjustment Knobs
Blue adjustment knobs are positioned on clamp bodies at the upper and lower junctions. Silver housings surround the rods and collars, creating visible rod-to-clamp connection points for arranging the frame configuration around the limb.
Free Assembly to the Surgical Requirement
The set is not a fixed frame. Rods, cross-members and clamp bodies are assembled freely to whatever the requirement in front of the surgeon is, which is why the same case of parts covers frames from the pelvis down to the foot. Nothing in the set commits the assembly to one geometry before it reaches the table.
Stainless Steel and Carbon Fibre Materials
The rods, clamp housings, collars, and connecting members of the main assembly are made from stainless steel, giving a consistent material specification across the frame. Connecting rods are also offered in carbon fibre, a rod material that combines high strength with corrosion resistance at a low weight, so a longer frame span adds less mass hanging off the pins.
Sterile Packaging and Set Handling
The set is supplied in sterile packaging as a packaged configuration for the specified external fixation workflow. It arrives ready for use, which takes a preparation step out of the theatre workflow before the frame is built.
Applications in Lower-Limb Frame Assembly
The configurations this set is assembled into, from the hip to the ankle.
Proximal Tibial External Fixator

Pins above and below the fracture carry two rods across the proximal tibia.
Femur Shaft External Fixator

A single-rod frame along the femoral shaft, with the clamps set clear of the thigh.
Half Ring (Standard) External Fixator

A curved half-ring section carried on paired rods, for purchase around the bone rather than across one face.
Proximal Femoral External Fixator

Clamps stacked on one rod, anchored into the proximal femur.
Knee Joint External Fixator

A frame bridging femur to tibia, holding the knee while the joint is spanned.
Pelvic External Fixator

An anterior frame on pins in both iliac crests, closing across the front of the pelvis.
Ankle External Fixator (A Type)

An A-shaped frame crossing the ankle onto the foot.
When a complete packaged fixation configuration is required, Kangli Orthopaedics’ external fixation sterile kits may be reviewed alongside this lower-limb instrument set.
